Description

Mount Tahan (Malay: Gunung Tahan), at 2,187 m, is the highest point in Peninsular Malaysia. It is located within the Taman Negara national forest, in the state of Pahang. The mountain is part of the Tahan Range in the Tenasserim Hills and is popular with local climbers. . In the Malay language, ‘gunung’ means ‘mountain’, while ‘tahan’ means ‘endure’. Thus, the name of the mountain suggests that a certain level of physical endurance is required to conquer it. Gunung Tahan is considered by many to be one of the toughest treks in Peninsular Malaysia.

Trails

There are three trails to the summit, commonly referred to as:
 
1) Kuala Tahan-Kuala Tahan
 
2) Merapoh-Kuala Tahan or Kuala Tahan-Merapoh
 
3) Merapoh-Merapoh
 
The Kuala Tahan classic trail is the oldest and most scenic trail. A return trip on this trail typically takes seven days. Climbers have to trek across undulating ridges and make several river crossings before finally reaching the foot of the mountain to make the final ascent. Climbers without adequate physical fitness or training are not advised to attempt Gunung Tahan.
 
The other two trails are from Merapoh (Sungai Relau). The Merapoh-Merapoh trail is significantly shorter than the other two. A return trip on the Merapoh trail takes 3–4 days. A traverse from Kuala Tahan to Merapoh (or the other way around) takes around 5 days.
 
 
Temperature
 
Mount Tahan can be very cold in night. In December to January, its temperature can be from 4 °C to 18 °C. And in June to September, its temperature can be from 7 °C to 27 °C. Frost can sometimes appear at the summit.

Terms and Conditions

  • Minimum must be at least 2 adults.
  • All prices are nett or charges are excluding 6% GST.  All prices or charges are subjected additional of 6% GST effectively started from April 1st, 2015 for all tour bookings and check in and out dates.
  • Please bring alone towel and spare clothing.
  • Tentative Itinary subjected to change without prior warning due to many factors such as weather of the day, road conditions, etc
  • Pick-up and drop-off services from major hotels at Kuala Lumpur town center.
  • For other pick up and drop off services in other area outside Kuala Lumpur, additional surcharge be charge in accordingly
  • Touring by air-conditioned mini van, van or bus coaches which largely depend on the group size.
  • Any unused services are non-refundable, non-exhangeable and non-deductible.
  • Full Charges apply to NO SHOW OR LAST MINUTES CANCELLATION
  • Postponements of Trip:  We need at least 1 Month any changes or postponements before trip commence date.  Partially payment minus the deposit will be refund if cancellation at least 1 Month before trip commence date.
  • A 50% (of total package amount) non-refundable deposit is required within 14 days after reservation date and the balance must be paid 5 days before departure.
  • The booking is CONFIRMED once we have receive the deposit. 
  • Amendment is only allowed 14 days before from the travel date with charge RM 100.00 per person
  • Cancellation made 14 days before from the travel date will not be refund deposit.
  • Cancellation or amendment made after full payment received will not be refundable.
  • The management excludes liability for losses incurred due to failure to connect with other services and shall not be held liable for loss of baggage or personal belonging, illness, injury or death resulting from activities which are beyond the management control.
  • Reservation is subject to availability of rooms and confirmation will be on first come first serve basis.
  • The management reserves the right to revise the above facilities and rates without any prior notice.
  • The management reserved the right to alter the itinerary or cancel a tour due to unforeseen operational condition.
